Questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is opened, cropped and saved by your browser. You can check in the browser's network panel: nothing is sent while you use the tool.
Does the saved file keep the location of the photo?
No. The file is drawn fresh, so GPS coordinates, the phone model and other details stored inside the original are not carried over. Worth knowing before posting a photo of your home.
JPG, PNG or WebP?
JPG for photos: small and accepted everywhere. PNG for screenshots, logos and anything transparent. WebP is smaller still, but some listing sites, forms and older programs refuse it.
Why is the result sometimes larger than the original?
PNG is lossless, so a photo saved as PNG grows. A JPG saved at a higher quality than the original was also grows. Lower the quality, pick JPG or WebP, or set a size limit.
My iPhone photo does not open.
iPhones save HEIC by default. Safari opens it; some other browsers do not. On the phone, Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible makes new photos JPG.
