UTM link builder
Tag a link before sharing it, so the visit can be traced to the post, newsletter or ad that brought it.
- Runs in the browser. Nothing typed here is sent or stored.
- Tags already on the address are kept or replaced, and a #section at the end stays put.
- Works with Google Analytics, Umami, Plausible and anything else that reads utm_ tags.
Questions
What are UTM tags?
Extra bits at the end of a web address (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign) that analytics tools read. The page looks the same to the visitor; the tool now knows which link they used.
Should I tag links to my own site from my own pages?
No. Tag links that go out into the world: social posts, newsletters, ads, QR codes. Tagging internal links makes analytics start a new visit and lose the real source.
What should I write in each field?
Source is the place (instagram), medium is the kind of channel (social, email, cpc, qr), campaign is the name of the push (summer-2026). Pick a spelling and keep to it, because reports count every spelling separately.
